Parking ban plan for when snow hits Midlothian

Temporary parking restrictions are to be introduced in a bid to prevent Midlothian motorists abandoning their cars during heavy snow.

The restrictions, which will be in place from November 1, come after drivers disrupted essential bus services during last year’s severe winter. ‘No parking’ cones are to be placed along specific lengths on the streets, but only when prolonged and heavy snow is forecast.

Police will have powers to remove vehicles parked on the coned areas. Midlothian Council is also looking at extending the measures to include other areas.
