A PATHHEAD man is gearing up to walk the Great Wall of China for a childcare charity.

Iain MacDonald plans to trek more than 6000 kilometres over 12 days in September along one of the world’s most famous man-made structures.

The 23-year-old court administration officer hopes to raise more than £3000 for Childreach International, which works with local communities in the developing world to help improve children’s access to healthcare, education, child rights and protection.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to do a spot of travelling.

“However, rather than just booking up for an adventure holiday through a travel agency, I thought the experience would be a lot more special and rewarding if it were in the name of a good cause.

“This way, I could experience a country’s wonderful culture in a unique way and do my small bit to help change some people’s lives for the better.”
