One of the main routes in the Penicuik Estate is to close as major repairs are carried out to a local bridge.
Work is scheduled to begin on the Knightslaw Bridge, which is on the main drive from the Speargate Lodge to Penicuik House, on Monday, March 19, and last for six months. During this time, the main drive will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Estate owner Sir Robert Clerk, said: “The repairs to the bridge involve the erection of scaffolding over its entire structure, and for a period of about two weeks from March 19, in order to comply with Health and Safety regulations, we are having to close the bridge to pedestrians also.”
