Penicuik Citizens Advice Bureau is appealing for more volunteer advice workers to meet the demands of its ever increasing workload.
Volunteers undergo 12 weeks’ training with some of it completed online. The bulk involves shadowing experienced workers.
Potential advice workers must be over 18 years and available at least one day a week to work at the CAB.
The CAB has a comprehensive information system to support advice workers. The main issues dealt with by the bureau relate to debt, benefits and tax credits, employment and housing concerns.
