THE Penicuik community was in a mood to celebrate last week, and the minor matter of poor weather wasn’t going to spoil the party.
Penicuik’s Hunter and Lass festival, now in its 75th year, began with the family bike ride and continued right through the week until the Hunter and Lass Day.
For the rest of the week, the weather did its best to interfere with the programme of events but fortunately all, bar the ladies’ football, went ahead and were well supported by local residents and visitors.
Visiting principals from Biggar, Currie, Duns, Edinburgh, Innerleithen, Kelso, Lanark, Lockerbie, Musselburgh, Peebles, West Linton and Yetholm attended the installation ceremony. Rain in the early part of the evening forced the entertainment into the town hall but a large crowd remained to watch the sashing of Andrew Murray and Adele Munro.
Full story, results and six pages of photos from the festivities in this week’s Advertiser. On sale now.
