Ladywood Leisure Centre hosts an open event this Saturday afternoon (March 29) to celebrate seven years being run by the community.

The centre, in Yarrow Court, is planning a host of activities from 1pm to 5pm.

The open event will start with the official opening of the centre’s new storage and gym area. The opening will be carried out by Strathesk Primary pupil Jenna Connon (11), one of many people who took part in the centre’s buy a brick fundraising campaign.

Afternoon sessions include Enjoy-A-Ball, table tennis, Sam’s flex dance, Midlothian Judo, gymnastics, USC cheerleading, powerhoop, street struck dance, keep fit sessions, Zumba and SFA football.

Pre-booking for the adult and children session is required - contact 01968 678473 to register for a free session.

There will also be refreshments, face painting, and information stands for dog training, Red Cross, Ageing Well, Midlothian volunteering and Police Scotland.

Centre manager Ian Ramage is keen for as many people in the local community to attend, particularly former volunteers and directors.
