A new service to support people struggling with debt has opened in Midlothian.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has joined forces with Penicuik South Church to bring its service to the county.

The multi-award winning CAP has 160 centres across the United Kingdom. Each client is visited in their own home and receives face-to-face support until the day they are debt free.

Spearheading the Midlothian service are Penicuik South Church minister Rev Ian Cathcart and CAP centre manager Joyce Maclean.

Rev Cathcart said: “We first asked ourselves ‘what does this community need?’ rather than ‘what do we want to do?’.”
