Family travelled half way across the world to join Penicuik couple Ian and Margaret MacLennan as they celebrated their Diamond Wedding.

The MacLennan’s son, James, arrived unexpected from Brisbane, Australia, to join the 60th annivesary celebrations.

Ian (86), who was born in the wardens’ quarters at Peterhead Prison, met Aberdeen-born Margaret (82) through family connections on his return from Glasgow, where he worked at a Post Office engineer.

Ian’s aunt and uncle attended the same church as Margaret’s family.

The couple were married at St Peter’s Epsicopal Church, Torry, on February 16, 1952, and set up home in Aberdeen.
