Honesty has proved to be the best policy for eight-year-old Amy Fraser – who handed in £100 she found in the street.

The Penicuik youngster has been presented with an honesty award after handing in a quantity of cash to the police, which she found in the street.

Amy, a P4 pupil at Cuiken Primary, told the Advertiser: “I was walking down from school and I was going to my friend’s house. I saw the £100 lying there and it wasn’t in a purse or anything.”

The youngster returned to her Cuiken Terrace home and spoke to her mum, Emma. “I said to my mum I should take it to the police in case it was someone’s money such as an old person,” explained the eight-year-old.
