A PENICUIK cheerleading group is facing one of its biggest challenges to date.
Ultimate Storm Cheerleaders (USC) are working to raise £15,000 after qualifying for the US Cheer and Dance finals in Orlando, Florida, in April.
The energetic group is trying to raise as much money as possible by February in a bid to keep the costs for each individual to a minimum. Representing USC will be the junior pom dance team of 12 girls. The team will be accompanied by several supporters.
USC chairman Louise Lumsden said: “We need help on all levels with our fundraising, not just on monetary terms, but also for guidance and advice for fundraising ideas, or even if anyone can offer us their premises for a fundraising event.
“Every little help is appreciated and the dancers and parents, friends and family are doing great so far. All the coaches and committee are volunteers, and none of us get paid for our time and commitment to the squad, with all of us holding down full-time jobs or coping with full-time studying.”
