Penicuik group to raise the curtain

Rising unemployment, issues in Europe, fuel costs and security worried in the Middle East?

Sound familiar? But these topics are the backdrop to Penicuik Community Theatre Group’s forthcoming one-act play, which is set in 1979 as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher comes to power.

Womberang, by Sue Townsend, is a black comedy focusing on the lives of several women at a gynaecological clinic openly discussing the problems they have faced and are facing from child birth, relationships, family, sex, work and money.

The show, which lasts approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, will be performed in Penicuik Town Hall from Thursday, May 3, to Saturday, May 5. Tickets are on sale by e-mail or from the Best Seller, High Street, Penicuik.
