Fundraising for the British Kidney Patient Association has gone from strength to strength in Penicuik raising more than £7,000.

The cash raising efforts have been inspired by local woman Kayleigh Hume (22), who suffers from an hereditary renal condition.

The Tesco employee went on the transplant list in the summer after suffering renal failure.

To kick start the fundraising her colleagues at Tesco organised and held an ‘Oscars’ night at Glencorse Golf Club. The red carpet event raised almost £2,500.

More recently Annalisa Buchanan and her partner Emma Buchanan, from the Penicuik-based Fitness Education Academy, held a sponsored 12-hour cycle at the Tesco store boosting the fundraising by a further £1,400.
