Penicuik people interested in off-road motorcycling are invited to attend a special meeting.
Penicuik and District Community councillor Ian ‘Mose’ Hutchison has organised the event in Ladywood Leisure Centre to find somewhere safe and legal of motorcyclists to use. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 29, at 7.30pm.
Mr Hutchison, a member of Melville Motor Club, said: “A public meeting has been organised for anyone interested – kids, mums and dads – as this is the only positive and sensible way forward.”
Those attending will include several competitors and organisers of events and landowners.
Anne Street resident Scot Campbell, who wrote to the Advertiser last month on the issue, said he and other off-road users would be attending the meeting to hear the discussion and options.
He added he was in the process of drawing up an agreement with a landowner in Deanburn about the use of fields in the area. The document would include restrictions on the hours of usage to prevent nuisance to residents.
The nearest off-road motorbike site is at Eddleston but motorcyclists would still have to have access to a trailer to take their bike.
