A PENICUIK minister has admitted at being full of mixed emotions on retiring.
Rev John Fraser has tended to the spiritual and pastoral needs of Penicuik North Kirk for almost 29 years.
The 65-year-old, packing in preparation of moving out of the John Street manse, told the Advertiser: “I have a mixture of sadness – after all you can’t be involved in people’s lives for 29 years and then the next day switch off. So I will miss all the people here, but I am also excited about moving to a different house in Edinburgh.”
Mr Fraser added he had “really enjoyed” his time at Penicuik North. “It has been absolutely amazing. I will miss the people. It is the people who have been the most important thing. A member of the church brought along on Sunday a friend of theirs, and he was so impressed by the warmth and liveliness of worship. I said he would be back next week with his family.”
