On top of the world is Penicuik woman Laura Wallace.

The 24-year-old has raised almost £3800 for Help for Heroes by taking part in a sponsored walk to the Mount Everest Base Camp.

With her brother, Private Christopher Wallace, serving with the Royal Logistics Corps, the keep-fit enthusiast was duty-bound to back the charity, which raises money to support wounded members of the Armed Forces.

Laura explained: “Some of his friends have been to Afghanistan and been injured, and you read the stories in the paper about how they have been injured and don’t get a lot of government help. I wanted to do something. I wouldn’t be happy for something to happen to Christopher and him not get the help he needs.”
