The stars were out when a Penicuik school won two top educational awards earlier this month.
Beeslack Community High School was delighted that two members of its community won Star Awards at the Scottish Qualification Authority’s evening celebrating great achievements in education.
Eighteen-year-old Carla Grant received the school candidate of the year award, while Tom Hardie was named appointee of the year.
Carla faced the challenge of her Advanced Highers head on while her dad Alan and brothers Connor and Warren were deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
