Penicuik YMCA-YWCA Drama Club students have been busy this summer participating in a special summer skills programme to hone their performing arts skills.

Two lucky girls, Tegan Clark and Kelly Cryans, have had an exceptional opportunity to do a performing arts workshop at Fettes College.

The Edinburgh Summer Skills - FANDOM - is a programme delivered by the Youth Music Theatre UK that gives young people, aged 11 to 21 years, the opportunity to strengthen and enhance dancing, singing and acting skills.

This year it has taken place between August 8 -13 at Fettes College.

During the six days the young people took lessons from professionals from the national and international acting scene.

The drama group at Penicuik YMCA-YWCA is currently delivered by drama teacher Marie Clair Munro from Acting Scene.

The two young people who attended gained a wonderful opportunity to increase their already innate abilities for the performing arts.

Kelly Cryans, one of the drama club students who attended the FANDOM workshops, said: “The workshop was amazing everyone was so nice and caring and we all worked really well with each other.

“All the activities where fantastic and the performance at the end of the week was brilliant.

“This is one of the best things you could ever do and I definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in the performing arts.

“If I ever get a chance to go again I will with no doubt put my name down for it.”
