The wheels have been put into motion to redevelop a Penicuik tyre fitting business.
Alex F Noble and Son, the owner of the Angle Park Garage, has announced plans to expand the tyre bay and fast-fit facility at the John Street location.
This follows the recent decision that the fuel sales operation at the same garage would stop trading at the end of last month with the loss of four jobs.
The company has blamed competition from major retailers in the Penicuik area.
Company director Colin Noble said: “Whilst we’re delighted to be announcing plans to expand the tyre and fast-fit operation at Angle Park Garage, we were very disappointed at having to close the fuel sales and retail facility, resulting in the loss of four staff.
“Angle Park Garage has been part of the Alex F Noble family business for many years and has become a well known landmark in Penicuik.
“Regrettably, competition from major retailers within the surrounding area has overwhelmed the fuel sales and retail side of the business and left us with no alternative but to cease trading from October 30.”
Mr Noble continued: “We are pleased to say, however, that the tyre bay and fast-fit operation will be extended and developed to maximise the considerable potential it has and work on that project is expected to start early 2012.
“In the meantime, the tyre business continues to operate as usual, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.”
