A PENICUIK woman’s chilled challenge is bringing a warm glow to a national charity.

Julie Finlayson is making a 250-kilometre trek by dog sled across the frozen tundra of the Arctic Circle to raise money for MND Scotland and highlight motor neurone disease.

Impressed by the 22-year-old’s bold venture, a Midlothian author has helped to organise the recording of a special song that features pupils from her old school.

Radiographer George Korankye, from Bonnyrigg, read of Julie’s determination to raise money for MND as a tribute to her late grandmother, Eleanor Finlayson, who died from the disease in August 2011.
