Plans backed for new Lasswade venture

Plans to breath new life into a former Lasswade restaurant have been backed.

Edinburgh-based firm Paper Scissor Stone Developments Ltd was recently granted a provisional premises licence for the Paper Mill, 2-4 West Mill Road, at Midlothian Licensing Board.

On-sales at the bar/restaurant will be sold between 11am to midnight Monday to Thursday, 11am to 1pm Friday and Saturday, and 12.30pm to midnight on Sundays. Off-sales will be available between 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 12.30pm to 10pm on Sundays.

The applicant withdrew plans for a children’s play area and said it would make provision for children at tables with crayons and paper. In addition, the applicant confirmed it would adhere to a recommendation of the licensing standards officer that use of the external terrace would stop at 10pm.

Police recommended that children under 15 years vacate the premises by 10pm but young persons, aged 16 to 17 years, may remain on the premises if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.

A building warrant has been submitted to Midlothian Council proposing internal alterations to the building, formerly known as the Old Mill.
