The sun shone as local people young and old turned out for a day of fun at this year’s annual Dalkeith Festival, held on Saturday at King’s Park.
Following a colourful parade through the town, hundreds of local people headed to the park, where the judging of the fancy dress, decorated floats and cars took place.
That was followed by a programme of displays and demonstrations on the main stage from Fancy Footworks, Party Dance Mania, Dalkeith Guitar Club and Loanhead Disco Dancers. Musical entertainment was provided by Borthwick and District Pipe Band, Dalkeith Pipe Band and St David’s Brass Band.
Children enjoyed pony rides, face painting, a funfair, judo, rugby, football, an ice rink and bowling, with a tug of war competition rounding off the afternoon’s fun.
