Police appeal after break-ins

Police are appealing for witnesses following a break-in and thefts in Penicuik and Loanhead.

The first incident happened in Mauricewood Road, Penicuik, between 3pm and 7.50pm on Tuesday, December 15 when a house was broken into and cash and jewellery stolen.

In a second incident in Mayburn Avenue, Loanhead, electrical items and car keys were taken and a Vauxhall Zafira subsequently stolen from outside the house.

This incident happened between 2am and 3.30am on Wednesday, December 16.

Officers are conducting local enquiries to trace those responsible and anyone who can assist with this investigation is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Michele Lindsay said: “Theft by Housebreaking is a crime that significantly impacts on people’s lives.

“I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity or has any information in relation to these incidents to please contact police immediately.”
