Police appeal over Penicuik bird deaths

The deaths of two birds at a Penicuik duck pond have prompted police to issue an appeal to the community.

In recent months, reports have been received regarding anti-social behaviour, vandalism and injuries to geese and ducks at the Valleyfield Road pond.

This has unfortunately resulted in the death of two birds and damage to their housing.

The area is frequented and enjoyed by a large number of members of the community, including walkers, dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and visitors.

Sergeant Michele Lindsay said: “We will be carrying out patrols in the area and are appealing to members of the community that if you see anyone causing or about to cause damage, or acting suspiciously please call 999.”
