A FEMALE shop assistant was threatened by a knife-wielding robber at a Penicuik store last week.
The incident happened at Lothian Grocers, John Street, around 4.50pm on Thursday, January 5.
The male thief entered the premises and threatened the shop assistant with a knife, before grabbing the till and making his escape.
He dropped the till outside the shop but still managed to make off with the cash tray, which contained a three-figure sum of cash. He was last seen running into Carnethy Avenue.
Shop owner Mohammad Munir told the Advertiser that nothing like this had happened in the 25 years of being in business in Penicuik.
