Police in hunt for Newtongrange thief

POLICE are hunting a thief who struck in Newtongrange last week.

The incident happened in Main Street around 8.45am on Monday, January 16.

A 59-year-old man had just left the Co-op store and, as he crossed the road, a man approached and engaged him in conversation.

The suspect then stole various cards, including bank cards and a library card, from the man’s jacket.

The victim made his way home and contacted police, who are now seeking anyone who can assist with their enquiries.
