Police investigate damage to Penicuik church halls

Police in Midlothian are investigating following two housebreakings to church halls in the Penicuik area.

The first incident occurred at the Penicuik South Church Hall, West Street, between 1.30pm on June 30, and 8.45am on July 1. The premises were broken into. Food was stolen and damage was caused to the building.

The second incident occurred at St Mungos Church Hall, Kirkhill Road, between 7pm on July 1 and 5am on July 2, when entry was gained through a window. Nothing was stolen from the premises, however, a fire extinguisher was set off causing damage.

Sergeant Michele Lindsay said: “We are investigating both incidents, which we believe maybe linked.

“Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the immediate areas surrounding the churches is asked to contact police immediately.”
