Midlothian Council leader Derek Milligan (Lab), in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, has reassured local people that all council houses and schools are safe.
Speaking at the recent full council meeting Cllr Milligan, responding to a question from Cllr Debbi McCall (SNP), said: “I think we were all shocked by the events and it became clear that there could be some problems with the cladding.
“We took the opportunity to raise concerns and asked the chief executive if he could ensure that any investigation would be taken swiftly. Inspections have found no use of the same materials or type of cladding in either our housing or schools. I’m advised no further action is required but I have asked offers to continue to monitor the situation.”
