Midlothian Council has defended transport links to Vogrie Park after an Advertiser reader complained about accessibility for non-car uses.
In a letter to the editor in last week’s Midlothian Advertiser, Ulla Hipkin questioned the lack of public transport servicing the venue and was disappointed that it meant she was unable to attend a Midlothian Walking Festival event there.
A spokesman for the council said: “We are aware that no public transport goes to the country park but this certainly doesn’t seem to be impacting on people attending events there. Indeed, events at Vogrie are often oversubscribed. Our travel team has not been contacted by anyone asking for the former 529 bus service to be reinstated. And as far as the council is concerned, there does not seem to be a demand.
“If residents want to get in touch with us about getting to Vogrie we’d be delighted to talk to them on 0131 561 5443.”
