The Council has removed its support for the £5 million-restoration of Mavisbank House, after the current administration lost its first ever vote.
A cabinet motion to commit to work on the project if a Heritage Lottery funding application was accepted was beaten by an amendment from the performance and scrutiny committee to remove support due to financial constraints.
Mavisbank Trust’s development and marketing officer Sarah Bronsdon believes this throws doubt on their plans.
She said: “The Mavisbank Trust is bitterly disappointed. What we are looking for from the council is a commitment towards the project, both financially and just [with] their general support, and that’s what we thought we had, and now we are uncertain.”
