Staff at Bonnyrigg’s Hopefield Primary will start moving into the new Burnbrae school building next month.
With 15 new classrooms, a nursery and an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) unit, the new school will have capacity for 480 pupils –three times more than the current Hopefield Primary.
An ASD unit will provide support for children with a diagnosis of autism, who cannot cope in a mainstream classroom situation on a full-time basis, but could benefit from being placed in an autism specific class attached to the mainstream school. The building will also include an assembly/sports hall, a music room and an outdoor 3G multi-use games area.
