Protesters cry ‘foul’ over council uplift outside the Newtongrange home of Da Vinci Code rapist Robert Greens

Protesters camped outside Robert Greens’ home in Newtongrange have accused Midlothian Council of sabotaging their campaign.

The claim comes after items, including banners, posters and a sofa chair, were taken away in a council van.

Campaign leader Sharon O’Donnell told the Advertiser that the protest was being “undermined”.

She said: “They took everything that we have collected over the last ten weeks. They are saying that they wanted to clean the place up and that it was rubbish but it wasn’t – it was ours.

“It’s obvious what their tactics are – they are trying to break up the protest so that he [Greens] can live here. No chance will that happen. All they have done is anger the community.
