The team behind the return of the Borders Railway line have opened an office in Midlothian.
Newtongrange will become the ‘northern hub’ for the Borders Railway project as, over the next few weeks, more than 130 members of the team move into new offices at Victoria Park Industrial Estate. This will now act as the project’s new base until the railway is completed in 2015.
Located next to the National Mining Museum in Newtongrange, the new office will act as a base for employees of Network Rail and BAM (the main Borders Railway contractor) working on the project.
Staff will include administration and finance teams, project directors, design co-ordinators, environmental experts and communications staff.
A second programme of community drop-in meetings will be held this spring and local residents are encouraged to attend.
