Tony Newjem sent in this photo: “This is the Ramsay Monument built in 1759 by Sir James Clerk, which can be seen from the grounds of the partially-restored Penicuik House.
“I believe it commemorates Allan Ramsay the Poet, as opposed to the Artist, judging by the Latin inscription “POETA” on its interior.”
