1963

DALKEITH: A start was made this week on the demolition of shops in the High Street in preparing for the final work on the Jarnac Court shopping centre. Several tenants have already moved into the new shops. It is fully expected that the majority of the shops will be occupied in a matter of weeks.

1988

TEMPLE: More than 30 Temple residents attended a meeting in the village hall last Thursday to voice opposition to the construction of a memorial cairn in Old Temple Churchyard. Residents felt the cairn was an eyesore.

1998

LOANHEAD: A limited edition print of the three Loanhead youngsters who were in the Scottish Cup Heart of Midlothian squad is on sale for gala funds. The portraits of Grant Murray, David Murie and Gary Naysmith have been done by local newsagent Tim Edie.
