1964

DALKEITH: Dalkeith firm N Thomson Ltd have gained the contract for the erection of the new Roman Catholic Secondary School at Abbey Road, Dalkeith. The £500,000 work means employment for local building craftsmen for the next two years.

1989

MIDLOTHIAN: District councillors have again expressed concern at the quality of concessionary coal being supplied to people in Midlothian. They had previously raised questions over the poor quality of concessionary coal being supplied to retired miners and their dependents.

1999

LOANHEAD: The newly-formed Friends of Burghlee Park will be holding its first community event next month. The Friends, a committee of six local residents, will co-ordinate the planting of around 200 young trees.
