1964

BONNYRIGG: Bonnyrigg Twinning Committee were given a very enlightening talk about Saint Cyr L’ecole by Madame McMillan, a native of the district at a meeting in Lasswade Secondary School last Wednesday evening. Saint Cyr is the French town with which Bonnyrigg and Lasswade have twinned.

1989

PENICUIK: Penicuik’s Heart Start appeal touched the hearts of Midlothian people. For it raised its £12,000 target in a record-breaking 12 weeks - and became the first area in Britain to achieve its aim of buying two life-saving defibrillators for two local ambulances.

1999

MIDLOTHIAN: The South East Wedge development project, an innovative £500 million development plan to combine the need for jobs and new homes, was officially launched this week. Partners in the joint venture, Midlothian and City of Edinburgh Councils, announced their proposals for the 1370 hectare site at the historic Craigmiller Castle.
