1964

MIDLOTHIAN: Following quickly on the official announcements that Midlothian Education Authority would spend close on one-quarter million pounds on a new Roman Catholic school at Abbey Road, Dalkeith and a new Esk Valley College at Hardengreen, comes the news that four more projects will be started.

1989

ROSEWELL: Rosewell residents received some good and bad news this week. The bad news is that open cast coal and clay workings in the village are to continue for another three years. The good news? The developers plan to provide a bypass road around the village.

1999

PENICUIK: Leading Midlothian company Penicuik Windows and Conservatories has announced an investment programme which will lead to the creation of 100 jobs locally. The three year development plan will also see the investment of more than £400,000 this year to develop its headquarters and create jobs at the Eastfield Industrial Estate in Penicuik.
