NEWBATTLE: The Scottish Education Department have refused to grant to Newbattle District Council to build a swimming pool, yet circulars have been sent to local authorities.

LOANHEAD: A Loanhead Venture Scout will be enjoying the rare honour of leading the parade of 1000 of Her Majesty’s Queen’s Scouts at Windsor Castle on Sunday. Carolyn Spray (19), of Pentland Mains, is one of six Scots people chosen to carry the Scout Association’s Royal Colours.

NEWTONGRANGE: Newtongrange shoppers will no longer have to go to Bonnyrigg to pick up their weekly bargains after this week when a new outdoor market begins trading in the village. The market will have around 30 or more stalls.
