1964

DALKEITH: David Smith who proposed at Dalkeith Town Council that a Nagasaki peace tree should be planted at Jarnac Court on the official opening in August, defends his suggestion which had been criticised by a Dalkeith man who had been a prisoner of war in Japanese camps. The former prisoner of war put forward the proposal that a Rowan tree should be planted.

1989

GOREBRIDGE: Plans for a housing development on the site of the former Birkenside Primary School in Gorebridge will enhance the area, Midlothian District Councillors have been told.

1999

BONNYRIGG: Bonnyrigg playcheme could be set to see its last summer session this year unless local volunteers come forward to help run the scheme this summer.
