DALKEITH: Dalkeith goods station is to close from August 10 and traffic will be handled at Hardengreen station. The closure of the station, while not entirely unexpected, is surprising as it leaves the town without any rail communication with the outside world. The passenger station closed in 1942.
DALKEITH: Plans to partially demolish Dalkeith Corn Exchange and convert it into housing would increase traffic congestion in that part of the High Street, local residents claimed this week.
NEWTONGRANGE: Terry Gordon of Lothian Cat Rescue cuddles his newly-found friends after they were discovered at the Scottish Mining Museum. Four of the fluffy kittens were found in the old coal washery building at the museum.
