The successful Beadazzling project, helping Midlothian young people into work, is offering a hand of friendship to local pensioners.

Volunteer Midlothian, which runs the Dalkeith-based initiative, is setting up a craft group for over 60s.

The idea is the group will meet weekly and help to produce stock for the Eskdaill Court shop.

Natalie Christison at Volunteer Midlothian, said: “The group will be an excellent example of intergenerational working, with young volunteers learning new craft skills from the older group members.”
