A Special Constable with more than four decades of police service has been honoured following his retirement.
Peter Boland took up the role in June 1968 before eventually retiring in June 2013, having completed 45 years in uniform.
At a special ceremony held at Dalkeith Police Station, Chief Superintendent Jeanette McDiarmid presented him with two engraved crystal tumblers in recognition of his service.
The 65-year-old spent the majority of his career working in Bonnyrigg, and received two Chief Constable’s Commendations during his tenure.
