Role of Midlothian’s carers is hailed

A LOCAL MSP is highlighting the contribution of Scotland’s carers.

Christine Grahame, member for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, endorsed Carers Week (June 18-24), which champions the 517,000 people who look after a family member, friend or partner requiring help because they are ill, frail or have a disability.

The theme for this year’s campaign was “In Sickness and In Health” and Ms Grahame said: “The role of carers is set to become even more important as our population ages and carers’ week is a timely reminder of the invaluable work that is already being undertaken.
