A theatre company created by two men from Roslin has headed to the Far East to perform its version of a classic children’s story.
Simon Beattie and Bruce Strachan, who formed theatre company Nonsense Room Productions ten years ago, are taking their production of Little Red Riding Hood to Kids’ Fest, a two-week children’s festival held in Hong Kong and Singapore over the next fortnight.
Simon said: “For the last few years we have been doing children’s shows.
“We had our most successful show with a version of Hairy McLeary and Friends. We performed it at the Edinburgh Festival and travelled around the world with it.
“Now we have developed Little Red Riding Hood and that’s the show we have been asked to take to Hong Kong and Singapore.
“Every year Kids Fest brings over UK shows like The Gruffalo and Stick Man. It’s a big festival over there. It’s getting bigger every year.
“And for us being a very small theatre company, it’s great to be asked to go. Each show is on for a week in Singapore and a week in Hong Kong.
“Ticket sales are very good. Most of them are ex-pats. It’s going to be great.”
