Traffic safety fears have been raised by Dalkeith residents living close to a town centre car park where charges were recently introduced.
In March this year, Midlothian Council announced that charges were to be introduced at the North Wynd car park in order to encourage local people and visitors to shop in the town centre.
A sliding scale of charges was introduced on July 1.
Coinciding with town centre improvements totalling £1.2 million, the decision to introduce charges was taken following extensive consultation with local shops and businesses. But local residents have slammed the decision, which they say has had an unfortunate impact on neighbouring streets.
