The importance of a Midlothian research institute’s work and links across the world were highlights during a visit by HRH The Princess Royal last week.
The Princess toured the laboratories at Moredun Research Institute, Pentlands Science Park, and met with some of the partners working in the field of animal health.
As patron of the Moredun Foundation, the Princess has been full of praise for the staff’s collaborative approach to research and knowledge exchange.
During the tour of the labs, the Princess met scientists who have developed a quick and effective diagnostic test for sheep scab, a debilitating and painful endemic disease in the UK.
Scientists from Moredun, the Scottish Agricultural College and Edinburgh University were also introduced to the Princess Royal.
