The Windsors (Channel 4, 9pm)

This new sitcom The Windsors presents the royals as we’ve never seen them before.

We get to meet the rest of the Windsors in this opening double bill too, including Prince Charles (Harry Enfield) as he tries to keep order, Wills (Hugh Skinner), who wants to mingle with people, and Pippa Middleton (Morgana Robinson), who is determined to bag a prince.

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show (BBC One, 7.05pm)

Michael McIntyre’s new entertainment show.

There is music from Years and Years, comedy by Rob Beckett and an astonishing acrobatic performance by Romeo of Cirque du Soleil.

Sunday, May 8

British Academy Awards 2016 (BBC One, 8pm)

Sir Ian McKellen and singer Adele receive their first Bafta television nomination, along with all four supporting actress nominees; Chanel Cresswell, Eleanor Worthington-Cox, Lesley Manville and Michelle Gomez.

Singer-songwriter Elle King will grace the red carpet before the ceremony begins to sing her latest hit.
