Working with lions, zebras and rhinos was all in a day’s work for Lasswade student Victoria Cuthbert, who recently returned to Midlothian following a two-week working holiday at a South African game reserve.

The 20-year-old veterinary student, who lives at Polton Road, was whisked off to the Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa on June 15 to gain ‘hands on’ experience and learn about animal conservation.

About to start the third year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery course at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School at Easter Bush, Victoria was shadowed by an ITV film crew throughout her South African adventure.
