Safety event in Mayfield

Firefighters are looking forward to meeting members of the local community when the safety roadshow arrives in Mayfield on Saturday.

Representatives from the police and the Scottish Ambulance Service will also be on hand when the roadshow arrives outside Scotmid on Mayfield Place.

The emergency personnel will be available to chat to locals about issues or concerns around fire, personal and home safety.

Stephen Murray, Watch Commander at Dalkeith Fire Station, said: “It’s so important for firefighters to get out there and meet the public. We can address people’s questions or concerns directly, and from Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service’s point of view, offer home fire safety advice and help people arrange a free home safety visit, which will include a free smoke alarm.”

If you would like to go along and meet the teams, they will be at Mayfield Place between noon and 4pm.

Stephen added: “Our crew look forward to meeting as many people from the local community as possible, and we urge you to come along on the day.”
