Safety issues over house near Leadburn

Proposals to build a new house near Leadburn have been knocked back due to poor sightlines along a busy, fast road.

Vincent Crolla lodged an appeal with Midlothian Council’s Local Review Body after his planning application in principle for a house on land adjoining Meyerling, Penicuik, was refused last year.

Officials felt that the proposed access could have a significant adverse impact on the safety of road users on the A6094 (Howgate to Leadburn road) either side of the proposed access due to below-standard visibility for all vehicles exiting the site and the forward visibility of vehicles travelling behind those turning into the site.
